Cao Bang not only attracts tourists by the well-known Ban Gioc waterfall, the majestic scenery of mountains, the charming roads but also by the historical sites of Pac Po Cave, and Lenin stream.
1. Ban Gioc Waterfall
Ban Gioc is the most beautiful waterfall of Vietnam, located in Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district, Cao Bang province. From a far distance, tourists can hear the big sound of water pouring down over limestone stones at the height of 30m. In the middle of the waterfall, there is a large stone block covered with trees, which has sawn the stream into 3 water flows like 3 white smooth silks.
The rolling waterfall is still pouring down flat rocks from day to night as countless particles bounce-white blur a large area. On sunny days, the water vapor also creates a shimmering rainbow. At the foot of the waterfall is the vast river as a mirror. On the riversides, there are lush green lawns and forests.
2.Phat Tich Truc Lam Ban Gioc Pagoda
The pagoda is beautifully designed, located on the Phia Nham mountain, Dam Thuy commune ( Trung Khanh), about 500m from Ban Gioc waterfall. The pagoda is built with the rich traditional Vietnamese architecture, consisting of Triple gate, belfry floor, floor space, stone stele and Three Jewels, nhà thờ Tổ (clan ancestral house), nhà thờ Mẫu (ancestral house to worship mother goddesses in Vietnam), pantheon of national heroes, the generations of Hung Vuong dynasty, guest houses as well as other landscape works. Phat Tich Truc Lam Ban Gioc Pagoda plays a major role in the development of Ban Gioc tourism to make Ban Gioc become a top tourist destination in Vietnam.
3. Nguom Ngao Cave
Nguom Ngao is a large cave, formed by erosion of weathered limestone. Nguom Ngao (Tay ethnic language means Tiger cave or "the valley between rocky cave"), it was discovered by local people in 1921. The cave has the length of 2.144m, includes 3 doors as follow: Ngườm Lồm door has cool atmosphere all year-round nestling under the rocks below the cliff; Ngườm Ngao door locates about a few hundred of steps from the foot of mountain and Bản Thuôn door situates behind the mountain, and adjacent to the Thuôn village of Tay people.
Cave roof is continuously closed and opened giving the tourists a big surprise. Stalactites grow from the bottom up; hang like an icicle from the ceiling or sides of the cave with different sizes and shapes such as vertical, big, or small…creating a magical labyrinth.
4.Thang Hen Lake
Thang Hen lake situates in Quoc Toan commune, Tra Linh district, Cao Bang province, at an altitude of thousands of meters above sea level. It is listed in the top 36 most beautiful lakes in Vietnam.
Lying amidst the beautiful scene of mountains and lush trees, Thang Hen lake is diamond-shaped with 300m wide and over 1.000m long. Also, you will see rugged rocks (a type of small round and sharp stone as cat ears) lying between Canarium album and Canarium tramdeum. At the upstream side, there is a large cave, and a source of water running out all time from the cave.
Especially the lake has two times “tide” up and down. In the flood season, Thang Hen lake is still clear with blue water while other lakes become scarlet. In the dry season, the lake is about 10m deep. Near the Thang Hen lake is Thang luong lake, and a knob of mountain with the spectacular scenery in the middle of the lake.
5.Pac Po Historical Relic
Pac Po is a Revolutionary Historical Relic in Vietnam, located in Pac Po village, Truong Ha commune, Ha Quang district, Cao Bang province and far away 55km from Cao Bang city to the north. The relic includes: Uncle Ho's memorial house, Coc Po cave (local name means "watershed"), Lung Lan cave, Nguom Vai cave, Lenin stream, stone table where Uncle Ho worked, the floor of Mr.Ly Quoc Sung’s house and Mr.La thanh’s house…
