It is said that, a trip to Myanmar will not be complete without a visit to Shwedagon Pagoda and Bogyoke Aung San Jewelery Market in Yangon - a beautiful and charming city. Because of the attraction of these places, Myanmar attracts a large number of visitors every year to  explore this "holy land".

The place where preserves many treasures of "country of the temples."

Myanmar has long been considered a "land of temples". One of the most famous religious buildings in the world is the Shwedagon Pagoda, built 2,500 years ago. From the foot of the hill there are four entrances to this temple. On each way up, there is a pair of chinthe (lion god) guard. In the east and south, there are many shops selling Buddhists offerings and spiritual practice.

It costs $ 5 to enter the door, people have to put their shoes off and walk barefoot. Thanks to the light emanating from the Golden Tower, the scenery of the pagoda is more splendid, sparkling, fanciful in the quiet space . All anxiety, depression often lightly dissipated, and fresh feeling can be replaced. Also according to the old people in the village: this place keeps four sacred treasures to the believers, including eight Sakyamuni's hair, along with the saucers, the rods of Buddhas and the three sets of sutras. And especially there are about 80 tons of gold in the temple, that have been paved around the tower for decades. The complex consists of 1,000 smaller temples surrounding the central tower, including 72 stone temples with Buddha statues inside. There are 1,065 gold bells and 421 silver bells on the top of the tower.

In addition, eight statues in eight different symbolic directions, representing seven days a week (Wednesday – the hump day, the middle day of the week, is divided into morning and afternoon). Each statue carries the shape of an animal. Tourists can check which statue stands for their birthday, then burn an incense and use holy water to pour on the animals to pray for good luck.

Hunting gems at "super cheap" prices.

Leaving Shwedagon, it is not far away from the famous Bogyoke Aung San market, one of the legacy of Yangon. The place is famous for the gems sold at amazingly cheap price. A gem in Myanmar is just about $ 5.

Bogyoke Aung San Market was built in 1926 with British architectural style, which is considered as a miniature Myanmar, as you can find any unique items representing Myanmar culture here.

The reason why gems are so cheap is because of the origin. Most of the gems are raw, rudimental, strung together in a variety of lengths. Sometimes visitors can find some more beautiful gems, which are round, finger-tipped size but at nearly $ 300.

So, with the exciting discoveries of Shwedagon Pagoda and the Bogyoke Aung San gemstone market, you will always feel like you want to discover more mysteries hidden around here. Moreover, visitors will be able to feel the magnificent but still very homely atmosphere in this attractive land.
